Electric Youth was preceded by a large musical theater chorus from the Franklin School for the Performing Arts and concert trips to Vienna in 1998 and 2000. In 2003, a smaller, sleeker ensemble adopted the name Electric Youth and went abroad with a fully choreographed show of popular hits and show tunes. More than a dozen European tours later, EY has become the dynamic group of talented singer dancers you see today performing customized arrangements with an amazing eight-piece band of Boston-based musicians.
ELECTRIC YOUTH and THE BOSTON SHOW BAND now tours Austria and Italy and France and the UK on alternate years in venues including elegant theaters and outdoor concert stages in cities, town squares and resort towns, as well as at American military bases. Their shows have been enthusiastically received in Austria at Vienna’s Schonbrunn Palace, Konzerthaus, Musikverein, Theater Akzent and the Odeon Theater; at San Remo’s Ariston Theater, Villa Manin, Montecatini and Lake Como in Italy; in theaters across the UK; and in France at venues throughout Normandy and at Disneyland Paris.
In addition to their European appearances, EY has twice performed on Fox television, at the Democratic National Convention and the Life is Good Festival in Boston and they have sung the national anthem at Fenway Park. Local show venues have included Showcase Live at Patriot Place, the Plaza at Gillette Stadium, Worcester’s renowned Mechanics Hall and their new home stage, THE BLACK BOX, in Franklin.
Electric Youth assumes the role of ambassadors of America’s youth during their time overseas. The EY experience provides superlative professional performance and touring opportunities. Trained exclusively at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts, Electric Youth members are selected each year by audition.
Electric Youth has recorded six albums and two digital EPs available on on streaming sites. Their three most recent recordings, Direct Current, All Amped Up and Power Chord, are available through CD Baby and other indie sites.
