Meet the Performers

2010 Electric Youth, Katie ~ Age 17

2009
I started dancing when I was two, and started singing and playing the piano when I was six. It was love. At six, my piano teacher convinced e to be in my Church’s production of Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I was so inspired by the 16 year old girl who played The Narrator.  I was bit by the theater bug! I started Ballet at FSPA with Mrs. Beaton. Coincidentally, Galen, another EY member was in my class and became my very first friend at FSPA. Now, she is one of my best friends! FSPA is my family and it has been my home for 11 years. I love the people at FSPA unconditionally and my FSPA family will always be a part of my life.  I remember the exact moment when I decided I was going to someday be a member of Electric Youth. It was 2005 and EY was performing Mamma Mia in Spring Concert. It became my dream, and now every single time we perform Mamma Mia, I think of how my dream has come true.  Sometimes, I feel like nothing can beat the happiness I feel when I am performing with my best friends! I have made friends that I will have for life. I love touring and immersing myself into different cultures and different lifestyles. I also love spending an abnormal amount of time with my best friends! My two favorite venues have been Obergrafendorf, Austria and Lignano, Italy. I love Obergrafendorf because the audience's response is one of the most rewarding. We do a benefit show for Leukemia research for EY’s former bus driver and the town loves that we are honoring their friend and it shows!  The Lignano audiences really have a good time with us. I also love Vienna. The architecture is simply outstanding.  The most rewarding part about being on tour with Electric Youth is performing in front of so many different people, and seeing how we can touch their lives in some way.  Performing on tour has enabled me to become more consistent with every aspect of my performance (stage presence, dancing, and singing), and I have gotten rid of a lot of my bad habits. Words cannot describe an EY tour. It is life changing; a life lesson and a performer’s dream come true. How many people can say they toured beautiful places in Europe with their best friends doing what they love?

Many people have inspired me and changed my life for the better, but I must say that Caitlyn Cassidy definitely stands out. For those who do not know Caitlin, everything she touches turns to gold. She is brilliant, beautiful, talented and kind. I admire her work ethic, I learn from her by watching her perform and she is one of my good friends. My first year of EY, she was a senior and I was only an 8th grader. Despite our age differences, we became friends. Caitlin always inspired me to do my best and I love being like a little sister to her. She has, and is one of my idols! My plans for the future are to follow my heart by studying and pursuing music and theater. I hope I will be able to help people somehow through my gifts!
